Some people say cultural traditions are destroyed when they are used as money-making attractions aimed at tourists. Others say this is the only way to save such traditions. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

Nowadays, many place use their culture tradition to attract tourist and make money. Some peoples think it destroys the traditons. Other think it is good way to save traditions from being lost. I will discuss about both sides of this issue. On the one hand, use tradition for tourist can destroy meaning and value of the traditon. When perform traditional dance or sell traditional food and souvenir only for money from tourist, the people maybe not care about the real meaning behind it. They change the tradition to make tourist like it more. Over time, the original tradition get lost and forgotten. So it destroy the culture. However, other people say tourism help save tradition. If no tourist come, maybe the tradition would disapear because the local people not interested to continue it. Tourist money give reason to keep doing the tradicional activities. More tourist means they will build museum, put on show, make souvenir and keep the tradition alive even if change it a little bit. In my opinion, I agree with use tradition for tourism but must be careful and balance. Cannot only do for money and destroy meaning. But some change is okay if help save the traditon. Government should make rule, and educate people to respect and understand their culture. In conclusion, tradition and tourism can work together if do it right way.

It is generally believed that some people are born with certain talents, for instance for sport or music, and others are not. However, it is sometimes claimed that any child can be taught to become a good sports person or musician. Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

Some people are believing that talents such as sport or music are inborn, while others think any child can be teached to be good at these things. I will discuss both sides of this argument and give my own opinion. On the one hand, there is evidence to suggest that certain individuals have a natural aptitude for particular activities. For example, some children display exceptional musical ability from a very young age, without having had much formal training. Similarly, some athletes seem to have a natural advantage in terms of their physical build and coordination, which allows them to excel in their chosen sport. This suggests that there may be a genetic component to talent that cannot be taught. On the other hand, it is also true that hard work and dedication can enable anyone to develop their skills in a particular area. Even if someone is not naturally gifted, they can still achieve a high level of proficiency through practice and perseverance. In fact, many successful musicians and sports people have credited their success to their work ethic rather than any innate talent. Ultimately, I believe that while some people may have a natural advantage, anyone can become accomplished in a particular field if they are willing to put in the time and effort. Innate talent can certainly help, but it is not the only factor in achieving success. With the right training and support, any child has the potential to develop their abilities and reach a high level of skill. In conclusion, although there is evidence to suggest that some people are born with certain talents, I believe that any child can be taught to excel in a particular area if they are given the right opportunities and encouragement. Natural ability may give some individuals an advantage, but ultimately, hard work and dedication are the key to success.

A large company in your area has decided to spend a certain amount of money, either to sponsor a local children's sports team for two years or to pay for two open air concerts. It has asked for feedback from the general public. Write a letter to the company. In your letter: Describe the benefits of sponsoring the sports team. Summarise the benefits of paying for the concerts. Say how you think the company should spend the money.

Dear Sir or Madam, I am writing to give my opinion on how your company should spent the money, either to sponsor a local children's sport team or to pay for two open air concert. Both option have benefits, but i think one is better than the other. Firstly, if your company sponsors the local children's sports team, it will have a positive impact to the community. The children will have the opportunity to play sports and stay healthy, which is important for their growth and development. Moreover, sponsoring the team will also help to promote your company's image and reputation in the local area. People will see that your company cares about the community and is willing to invest in it's future. On the other hand, paying for two open air concerts also have its own benefits. The concerts will provide entertainment for the local people and attract visitors from other areas, which can help to boost the local economy. Additionally, the concerts can also be used as a platform to promote your company's products or services to a wider audience. However, after considering both options, I believe that sponsoring the children sports team is the better choice. While the concerts may provide short-term benefits, investing in the children's future will have a long-lasting impact. By supporting the sports team, your company will be helping to create a healthier and more active community, which will benefit everyone in the long run. In conclusion, I strongly recommend that your company sponsors the local children's sports team for two years. It is a worthwhile investment that will have a positive impact on the community and your company's reputation. Yours faithfully, [Your Name]

In recent years, many small local shops have closed because customers travel to large shopping centres or malls to do their shopping. Is this a positive or negative development?

In recent years, many small shops closed because people go to malls for buying things. This is negative development for several reasons. First, closing small shops is bad for local economy. When shops close, people who work there loose their jobs. They will have no money to buy food and pay for their houses. This is very bad for local people and their familys. Also, when people loose jobs, they pay no taxes. This means less money for schools, hospitals and roads in local area. Second, malls are often far from where people live. People have to drive long way to get there. This leads to more traffic and pollution. Local shops are in walking distance, so it is better for enviroment when people buy things there. Third, small shops offer unique products and personal service. Many small shops sell things that you cannot find in big malls. Also, shop owners know their regular customers and can give them good advice and help them find what they need. In malls, sales people don't know customers and often just want to sell most expensive things. In conclusion, I believe closing of small shops is very negative trend. It is bad for local economy, enviroment and quality of service. We must support our local shops to keep our communities strong and healthy.

In recent years, there has been a significant increase in the number of people working from home in many countries. What are the main reasons for this trend and what impact does it have on society? Write at least 250 words.

In modern world, more and more people start working from their homes instead of going to office. This change has happened because of many reasons, and it affects our society in different ways that I will explain in this essay. First reason why people work from home is technology getting better. I am seeing that computers and internet are becoming very fast, so people can do their work tasks without going to company building. For example, my cousin who lives in different city, she works as programmer and does all her work on laptop from her apartment. She never needs going to office because everything can be done through internet. Another important reason that makes people work from home is they want better life balance. When I think about it, working from home helps save lot of time because we don't need to travel to work everyday. This saved time can be used for family or doing things we like. Also, some people have children to take care of, so working from home makes it easier for them managing both work and family responsibilities. However, this trend has both positive and negative effects on society. One good thing is that cities become less crowded because less people travel everyday. But at same time, I notice that people who work from home sometimes feel lonely because they don't meet colleagues face to face. In my opinion, this can make some people feel isolated from society. To conclude, I believe main reasons for increase in working from home are better technology and people wanting more flexible lifestyle. While this change brings some benefits like less traffic and better work-life balance, we must also think about ways to help people stay connected with others when they work from home. Society needs to find good balance between flexibility of home working and importance of human connection.

You and your teenage daughter visited the local library last weekend to find books for her school project. After searching for some time, you realized that the library did not have any books on the subject. This is not the first time that the library did not have something you need. Write a letter to the library manager: Describe what you were trying to find Explain why you needed the book and how you tried to find it Suggest what the library can do to help you find the information you need

Dear Sir/Madam, I am writing this letter because I want to tell you about problem I had in your library last weekend. Me and my daughter went there to find books about ancient Egyptian architecture, but we could not find any books about this topic. My daughter needs these books very much because she must do school project about pyramids and temples in Egypt. We looked everywhere in history section and asked library staff to help us. They were very nice and helped us search in computer system, but still nothing was there. We spent more than one hour looking for books, and my daughter became very disappointed. This is not first time we cannot find what we need in library. Last month, I was looking for books about gardening tips, but there were no good ones. I think library should buy more books about different topics that students need for school. Maybe you can ask people what kind of books they want to read and then buy those books. Also, it would be very helpful if library can make system where people can request books they need. I hope you will think about getting more books that can help students with their school work. It would make library much better for everyone who lives here. Looking forward to your response. Yours faithfully, [Name]

The charts below show the proportion of energy produced from different sources in a country between 1985 and 2003. Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

The graphs show information about how much energy was made from different sources in one country during two years, 1985 and 2003. There were significant changes in the way energy was produced during this period. In 1985, coal was being the main source of energy production, making up almost half (48%) of total energy output. Nuclear power was second most important, contributing 30% of energy production, while natural gas was accounting for 13%. The remaining sources, which were hydroelectric and other renewables, only produced 9% of total energy. However, by 2003, the situation changed a lot. Coal's importance decreased significant, dropping to just 29% of total production. Natural gas became much more important and was now producing 37% of energy, making it the biggest source. Nuclear power stayed almost same as before with 29%. There was also small increase in hydroelectric and renewable energy, which went up to 15%. One interesting thing I noticed is that fossil fuels (coal and natural gas together) still made up the biggest part of energy production in both years, even though individual sources changed. Another important point is that clean energy sources like nuclear and renewables increased their total share from 39% to 44% during this time. In conclusion, the data shows that this country's energy production changed quite big between 1985 and 2003, with natural gas becoming more important while coal became less important. Even though renewable energy increased little bit, fossil fuels were still being the main source of energy in 2003.

Some people think that all university students should study whatever they like. Others believe that they should only be allowed to study subjects that will be useful in the future, such as those related to science and technology. Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

In modern time, there is big discussion about what students need to study at university. While some people think students must choose what they want, others say only subjects like science are important for future. I will discuss both sides and share what I think about this issue. On one hand, when students study what they like, they feel more happy and do better in school. I remember when I was choosing my course, I wanted to study literature because I love reading books very much. My friends who study things they enjoy always get good marks and participate more in class activities. Also, when people do what they have passion for, they work harder and make good achievement in their life. However, other people say we need more students in science and technology fields because world is changing fast. They think subjects like art or history don't help much in finding good job. For example, many companies now want workers who know about computers and programming, so students with these skills can find work more easy. Also, these subjects help country develop better technology and become more strong in global economy. In my opinion, I think both views have good points, but students should have freedom to choose their study. Even though science is very important, we also need people who understand culture, art and society. If everyone study only technology, who will write books, make music or teach about history? I believe when people do what they love, they can still help society in different ways. To conclude, while focusing on science and technology has benefits for future, I think students should be able to study subjects they are interested in. This way, they can be successful and make good contributions to society in their own special way.

Some people say that the main environmental problem of our time is the loss of particular species of plants and animals. Others say there are more important environmental problems. Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

These days, many people are talking about different environmental problems that we face. While some think species extinction is most dangerous problem, others believe different issues need more attention. I think both views have valid points, but species loss might be bigger threat for our future. First of all, people who worry about animals and plants disappearing have good reasons for this concern. When I was studying biology in school, my teacher always told us that every species has important role in nature. Like, if bees would disappear, many plants cannot make fruits anymore. Also, I have read that when one species is gone, it affects many others in food chain. This makes me think losing species is very serious because we cannot bring them back after they are gone forever. On other hand, there are people who think problems like climate change and pollution are more important to solve. I can understand their point because these issues affect everything on Earth, not just few species. For example, in my city air pollution is very bad and many people get sick from it. Also, when temperatures get higher because of climate change, it creates many problems for humans like floods and storms. These problems affect our daily life more directly than species extinction. However, after thinking about both sides, I believe species extinction is actually biggest threat because it cannot be reversed. While we can clean pollution and maybe stop climate change if we try hard, we cannot create new species if they disappear. I remember reading about passenger pigeons that were everywhere in America before, but now they are gone forever. This makes me very worried about future of our planet. In conclusion, although there are many serious environmental problems we need to deal with, I think species extinction deserves most attention because once animals and plants are gone, we cannot get them back. We should try to protect all species while also working on other environmental issues.

Part 2

Some people say that the main environmental problem of our time is the loss of particular species of plants and animals. Others say that there are more important environmental problems. Discuss both these views and give your own opinion. Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

In recent years, there has been much discussion about what is the biggest problem for our environment. While some people think species extinction is the most serious issue we face, others believe different environmental challenges need more attention. I think both views have merit, but I agree more with the second opinion. Many people are very concerned about animals and plants that disappear from Earth forever. For example, in my country, there was a special kind of bird that lived in the forest, but now we cannot find it anymore because too many trees were cut down. When one species is gone, it affects other animals too, because they are all connected in nature. This makes the problem very serious, because when we lose one species, we can lose many others too. However, I think there are environmental problems that need even more attention right now. The biggest one is climate change, which makes everything worse for both humans and animals. In my city, we never had such hot summers before, and now many old people get sick because of the heat. Also, the air pollution in big cities is very bad. When I visit my cousin in the capital city, sometimes I cannot even see buildings that are far away because there is too much pollution in the air. These problems affect millions of people every day. In my opinion, while protecting endangered species is very important, we should focus more on solving climate change and pollution first. This is because these problems affect everything - not just some animals or plants, but all living things on Earth. If we can fix these big problems, it will also help save many endangered species. For example, if we stop polluting the air and water, many animals will have better places to live and will not disappear. To conclude, even though losing species is a serious environmental problem, I believe that climate change and pollution are more urgent issues that need our attention first. We must work on these problems now, because they affect both humans and animals, and make other environmental problems worse too.

The map below shows an industrial area in the town of Norbiton and planned future developments of the site. Summarise the information by reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant.

The maps illustrate how an industrial zone in Norbiton is going to change in the future, and it shows many different changes that will happen in this area. Looking at the current situation, we can see the industrial area is having many factories and warehouses. There is big warehouse in north part, and it takes up lot of space. Also, there are three factory buildings in middle area, and they are connected by roads that go between them. The south part has parking space where workers put their cars, and there is also small office building next to parking area. When we look at future development plan, we can notice area will change completely. The warehouse will be removed, and in its place there will be residential area with houses and apartments. They are planning to build many houses in this part. The factories in middle will also disappear, and instead there will be shopping centre that takes up most of space. This shopping centre will have big parking area in front of it, which is much bigger than current parking space. In conclusion, the industrial area of Norbiton will transform from manufacturing zone into place where people can live and shop. This change shows how city is moving away from industry to become more residential and commercial area. The most significant changes are replacement of warehouse with houses and factories with shopping facility.

Some countries are experiencing a growing trend where men choose to be stay-at-home fathers while their wives pursue full-time careers. Discuss the reasons for this change and evaluate whether this development has positive or negative implications for society.

In recent years, I notice that more men are choosing to stay home with children while their wives go to work full-time. This situation is becoming common in many places, and I think there are several reasons why this happens. The main reason I observe is that women nowadays have better chances to get good jobs than before. Many of my friends who are women studied in university and got high-paying jobs, so their husbands decide to take care of children because it makes more sense for family money. Also, society is changing how it thinks about men and women roles. When I was young, people would think it strange if father stays at home, but now people understand it is normal. Another thing that makes this happen is that many companies give better pay to employees now. If wife makes enough money for whole family, husband can stay with children instead of both parents working. This helps family save money because they don't need to pay for expensive child care, which I know costs very much in many places. I believe this change brings more good things than bad things to society. First reason why I think it's good is that children can have better care when one parent is always there with them. In my experience, children feel more safe and happy when parent is home. Also, this situation shows young people that men and women can do different jobs in family, which I think helps make society more equal. However, some people might say it's not good because men should work and earn money. But I don't agree with this thinking because what matters most is that family is happy and children get good care. From what I see, families where father stays home can be very happy if both parents agree with this choice. In conclusion, I strongly believe that men staying home while women work is happening because of better job opportunities for women and changing views in society. This development brings more positive effects than negative ones because it helps children get better care and makes society more equal. I think this trend will continue in future years as more families choose what works best for them.
